Catnapped.

Alex Yong and Luke Byers had been friend for, well, practically their whole life, even the diaper days. They were practically brothers. The two had even stayed friends in middle school when their places on the ladder of popularity shifted; Luke became popular, while Alex sunk to rock bottom and became Kennex Middle’s school nerd. Now the friends had started school again, but at Hanes High, and they were still perfect friends.
But that was soon to change.

Luke had come over to Alex’s for a sleepover, and they were busying themselves by playing various video games. It was nearly 12 o’clock and soon Alex’s mom would come up and tell them to shut everything down for the night.
For the bazillionth time Alex beat Luke in Marvel VS. Capcom.
“Alright!” shouted Alex. When his friend didn’t say anything, Alex turned to look at Luke.
“Sorry, Luke. Did I offend you?” said Alex, with a worried look on his face. Luke was his only friend and he didn't want to have a fight over this.
“No... it isn’t you.” whispered Luke.
Now Alex could see that something was up with Luke.
“Then what is it? You can tell me,” questioned Alex, very worried now.
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you, Alex... Taylor Jennings asked me out.”
mumbled Luke, turning deep red.
“That’s great, Luke! You had me worried!” breathed Alex, with a sigh of relief.
“Alex...” whispered Luke, “I’m sorry...”
“For not telling me already? No, its fine!” laughed Alex.
“No... I’m so sorry Alex!” shouted out Luke. “Taylor says that I can’t be friends with you anymore!” screamed Luke.
Alex froze in his tracks.
“I’m so sorry!” Luke continued. “But I really like Taylor and...”
“So we’re through?’’ croaked Alex.
Luke shook his head yes.
And then he experienced something he had never before.
“I HATE YOU LUKE!!!”
It was the first, and last time Alex would ever yell at Luke.

As soon as Alex made it outside his house the tears had starting streaming down his face.
“Baka, Baka, Baka!!!” screamed Alex. “I should have known that the school nerd couldn't be friends a popular!!!”
He ran down the streets, sobbing and calling himself an idiot.
“How come I can’t ever be happy?!?” cried out Alex.
Then the rain started pouring down.
It was like the gods were mocking him.
“Damn it!!!”
Alex rushed over to a bus stop shelter, and laid down on the bench.
“I guess I’ll have to rest here for the night.” he sighed, and drifted off to sleep.

As he fell asleep, he didn’t notice the sets of eyes peering down at him from above, eventually nodding up and down, then fading away into the night.

“What was that?” said Mrs. Yong, jolted awake by the boys’ fight.
Mr. Yong, a very heavy sleeper, just rolled over and snored some more.
After futile attempts to wake her husband, Mrs. Yong darted out of the room.
Nothing seemed out of place. It didn’t look like a robber of some sort had broke in.
With a sigh she returned to her bed, only to be frightened the second she hit the mattress.
“Mrs. Yong! There’s a big problem! Alex has ran off!” cried Luke, blushing from seeing Mrs. Yong in her nightclothes.
“What?!?” Mrs. Yong bolted out of bed yet again.
“Hello? Hello!?! Yes, there’s been an emergency, my son has...”

Alex’s eyes slowly opened, but he quickly closed them.
It was very bright outside, it had to at least be 10 o’clock.
‘Have I really slept that long?’ he thought.
When he reluctantly opened his eyes again, he realized three things:
Number 1, it was only 4 o’clock in the morning.
Two, it was not the sun shining in his eyes, it was a scientist peering at him with a flashlight.
And three, he was no longer on his bench.
“Ahhhh!” screamed Alex, “Where am I?!?”

Meanwhile, parties franticly searched for Alex.  Amber alerts were sent out, and Mr. and Mrs. Yong cried out desperately for their missing son.
Luke was questioned by police, asking what caused Alex to run away, if he could have been kidnapped or not, etcetera.
Luke sobbed, “Its all my fault! If I hadn’t of dumped him, he would still be here!”
Of course, it was all fake, and he planned get lots of good attention off of it. There was no way Luke would stay friends with the school nerd and plummet to rock bottom on the social ladder, and give up status as the king of Hanes High.
No, it was perfect that Alex was gone. Luke hoped he would never come back.

“Stay quiet!” snapped another scientist at the end of the room.
Alex was laid out on a sterile hospital bed, stark naked, trapped inside of an eerie white room that didn’t have a single window or door, with 9 men (and one woman) in white lab coats.
“No! Tell me why you have me here, and have stripped off my clothes!” demanded Alex.
“Jane, should I do it already?” addressed the scientist with the flashlight to the one female scientist.
“No,” laughed the female, “Let’s tell him why he’s here,”
“Let me go!!!” cried out Alex.
The female snapped her fingers. Two of the scientists rushed over to Alex, tying him up and putting a gag in his mouth.
“Uugh eee oooohh!”
The female laughed some more. (She was obviously the leader of the place.)
“My name is Jane. Myself and the other ten scientists once tried to show our genius to the world. We invented cures for incurable deceases!  But they didn’t get it. The world didn’t appreciate us, shunned us geniuses, just because we used low life humans to test out our experiments, and accidentally killed some. And they locked us up! But we have escaped our prison cells to once again stun the world!!! And we will get our revenge!!!! Hahahaha!!!”
Alex winced. This lady was obviously mad as a hatter.
Jane continued, “And you have been chosen to be our next test subject! Hopefully you will be a success! And if not... well we can always dispose of your body and get another.”
Alex realized the seriousness of the situation, and started to squirm franticly.
“Now now,” sighed Jane, “I would suggest you go along with this, as your cooperation may decide life or death... your life or death.”

It was already 6 o’clock in the morning, and the large search parties had no luck finding Alex.  
Mrs. Yong sobbed in her husband lap, while Luke pretended to be so grief stricken that he wouldn’t talk to anyone (Luke was a very good actor, star of the drama club). People patted Luke on the back, saying stuff about how it wasn’t his fault. And when they walked away from his fake tears, he would duck his head farther into his arms to hide his large, evil smile.

“Tighten the ropes!” snapped Jane.
Two scientists rushed to tighten Alex’s ropes. They were already snug before, but now they were so tight that they cut into his skin.
“Uuuuuugh!!!” moaned Alex.
“Don’t worry, they will be just right in a little bit,” smirked Jane, “We don’t want you escaping when you shrink.”
Alex hurt so much that he didn’t catch the comment.
“NOW!” shouted Jane.
Two scientists pinned down Alex, while another stuck a needle into him, injecting a strange pink fluid. The remaining scientists whipped out pads of paper and pens for notes.
First Alex’s blonde hair started to grow, lengthening till it stopped a little bit longer than his shoulders.
He closed his eyes in pain, screaming into his gag as his shrunk a couple of inches, his waist carving in, and as they were closed his blue eyes grew a bit and his face molded into one of a cute girl.
A wave of pain shook him, and he cried out as all his adam’s apple, body hair, and imperfections molded into his skin, and his manhood melted away.
The pain turned to searing heat, and then her chest started to ache uncontrollably. Two large mounds grew from her chest, causing her to moan.
The effects of the injection was gone.

Now the ropes fit perfectly, but you could see where they had cut into her earlier, when she was a he.
The scientist who had stuck the performed the injection ripped out the gag in Alex’s mouth.
‘So he survived.’ mumbled the note-taking scientists.
“Now ‘he’s’ a she!” laughed Jane, “It worked! We’ll show her to the world, we’ll just tell them that she was a volunteer to our honorable cause! We’ll finally be recognized as geniuses!!! Hahahaha!!!”
Alex glared at Jane.
“Who says I’m going to go along with this?!? That I’m going to give up my old life for a bunch of freaks?!? TURN ME BACK!!!!” screamed out Alex.
“Should I gag her again?” questioned the injection scientist.
“I WON’T BE YOUR GUINEA PIG!!!!!” cried out Alex, her faced stained with tears.
“Tsk, tsk. No, don’t gag her. I guess she won’t be a good little girl... then I guess we will have to make her intelligible.” Jane sighed dramatically.
A shockwave went through the room as the scientists cried out:
“Don’t tell me you are going to use ‘that’, Miss. Jane!?!”, or “We haven’t tried it out yet, and on one we finally succeeded!?!”, and “It might kill the subject!!!”
“That’s what she gets for not cooperating. I told her that she had a choice to help or die... but if she survives, she won’t care anymore!” she cackled. “So do it now! Notes at the ready!!!”
The injector scientist hesitantly injected a tube filled with black fluid into Alex’s body. She started to scream as soon as he did, as she immediately started shrinking. She stopped at a height no taller than a small chair, and the scientists groaned as they heard the eerie sound of her bones cracking.
Now her hair was in the middle of her shrunken back, and she looked a bit like a six year old. And she actually was- she had regressed 8 years of age.
Her hands turned and feet turned into brown paws, ringed with fur, and she groaned as a fuzzy blackish brown cat tail grew out of her back.
“Why are you doing this to me...?!?” sobbed Alex.
“Hahaha!!! You are a sacrifice for the better of humankind!!!”
As Jane spoke, Alex’s ears molded into her head, replaced by two dark brown cat ears.
And then, she could no longer understand a word that Jane was saying.
‘What have you done!?!’ cried out Alex, staring at the scientists with large blue eyes... but to the scientists it came out like this:
“Nya meow nyaaan meowl!!!”
“So she can’t speak anymore?” questioned one scientist.
But to Alex, his question was in a foreign language.

Alex Yong was never found.
Search parties searched for months on end, but within a year all hope of finding the missing child was lost, and eventually Alex was pronounced as dead.
Mrs. Yong and Mr. Yong sometimes wished for their son, but the thoughts were lost when they heard their baby daughter, Rosaline, cry out.
Rose eventually became a beautiful, girl, though lacking her ‘late’ brother’s smarts and social awkwardness. She soon rose to a status as a popular, and her attitude was nothing like her brother’s.
Luke, 8 years later, he had a great career, lots of money, and a wife in his childhood sweetheart, Taylor. Taylor was still as beautiful, if not even more, and Luke never regretted dumping Alex. Sometimes a shred of guilt flickered in his mind, but he always hastily pushed it out of his mind.
And for Alex, who was now called Felicina by the scientists, she now was just like a little kitten, and behaved like one too. They eventually discovered after tests that her brain had became almost identical to a cat's, so Felicina could not understand humans. Her vocal chords had also been changed into those of a cat, making her able to talk with felines. The scientists tried to make her learn English agian, but it failed.
Jane tried the experiment on other human guinea pigs too, but all of them died almost immediately, and further research showed that for some reason only Felicina was compatible with the formula.
Felicina still lives, not looking a day older than when she changed.
And so the tale of 'Alex' ends... for now.
